DataViz KC - A competition for students at partner schools to use state-of-the-art data visualization tools to tell compelling stories with data.

Data in Action! - Middle School Course - An 8th - grade elective course that teaches students about the data science process and connects them with industry professionals, helping them gain further insight into data's role in the workforce. Find Data in Action events →

Professional Learning Community - A network ofeducators and industry professionals to brainstorm and share initiatives to strengthen the presence of data literacy/science education in schools, industry, and the community.

Community Impact Projects - An opportunity for students to work with professionals to solve a problem facing their organization. Students use data to research, develop, and present a solution to the organization.

What is the Data Science Initiative?

PREP-KC's Data Science Initiative is a comprehensive program bringing data literacy education to Kansas City students through competitions, courses, and professional partnerships.

Who can participate in DataViz KC?

High school and middle school students from PREP-KC partner districts across the Kansas City metropolitan area can participate in teams of up to 5 members.

What is Data in Action?

Data in Action is an 8th grade elective course offered in Kansas City schools that teaches students the data science process and connects them with Missouri industry professionals.

How can professionals get involved?

Kansas City area professionals can judge competitions, mentor students, share datasets, host workplace visits, or join our Professional Learning Community to advance data science education.
