PREP-KC's goal is to increase college going, successful college completion and access to high-quality employment for urban students in the bi-state Kansas City region.

We are guided by the belief that the quality of education for Kansas City's urban youth will have a powerful and long-lasting effect not only on students' lives, but also on the quality of economic and civic life throughout our region.

Since its founding in 2005, PREP-KC has partnered with the Kansas City, Kansas Public School District (KCKPS) and the Kansas City, Missouri School District (KCMSD) to develop, leverage, and deploy resources to improve outcomes for the young people of these districts. We're proud to say these partnerships are producing important results.

Our successful partnerships with KCKPS and KCMSD have led to new partnerships with the Center, Hickman Mills, Grandview, and Independence School Districts. Together these six districts educate over half of the low-income students in the 5-county bi-state region. PREP-KC’s partnerships, which include targeted funding, aligned technical assistance, and a data-based framework for measuring important results in student outcomes, will significantly increase the number of urban students who graduate from high school, succeed in post-secondary education, and develop meaningful and rewarding careers.
