PREP-KC hosted its 2nd Annual Regional Math Relays competition at Center High School (Center School District) on November 12, 2011. Nearly 300 students from six of Kansas City's urban school districts arrived early on Saturday morning excited to compete in the Math competitions. As a part of PREP-KC's Math Benchmarking strategy, the Math Relays brought together students from 12 Kansas and Missouri high schools to demonstrate their skills in Math.
PREP-KC's President and CEO Susan Wally said, "Our Math Benchmarking strategy is helping students see themselves as Math achievers. Studies show that high school students who succeed at a rigorous Math curriculum do better in college and their future careers." PREP-KC, the 6 districts, and the students enjoyed this successful event and are already preparing to compete next year!
