Dec. 22, 2009: Preparing for a Career in Arts and Communications.

So far this school year, more than 1,200 urban high school students in Kansas City's Arts and Communication Small Learning Communities (SLCs) have participated in work-based learning experiences. These include classroom speakers, job shadows and college campus visits. These strategies are part of a unique PREP-KC initiative to provide transformative college and career preparation experiences for all of Kansas City's urban students.

Nov. 20, 2009: Grandview School District Launches Partnership with PREP-KC.

As the number of low-income students in the bi-state region increases, there is a growing need to improve student outcomes using the proven strategies that PREP-KC supports. In fall 2008 the leadership of the Grandview School District launched a planning process in partnership with PREP-KC, which was designed to bring new strategies to better prepare all students for college and careers.

Nov. 9, 2009: PREP-KC Invests in Improving Post-Secondary Preparation.

The local and national data are clear: our country and our region need strategies and solutions to better prepare students for success in post-secondary education. At PREP-KC, the data regarding economic trends have driven new strategies to ensure Kansas City’s high school students are better prepared for success in career certification programs, community colleges and four-year colleges.
