Steve Gering
Steve Gering has been in Education for over 25 years. During that time he has worked in both urban and suburban districts as a HS teacher and coach, a HS administrator, MS principal, District Administrator, and Deputy Superintendent in Kansas City, Kansas. In addition to these ‘traditional roles’ Steve also co-created and was principal/director of an alternative school for ‘at-risk’ adolescents who were kicked out of or dropped out of their local schools.
Steve played a lead role in implementing the district reform effort, First Things First, in Kansas City, Kansas.  Student Achievement has dramatically improved in KCK since the implementation of First Things First.   Kansas City, Kansas School District has been recognized nationally by the US Dept. of Education and the Gates Foundation for successful district reform.
In the spring of 2008, Steve began working as a consultant, supporting school districts in the Kansas City region and across the country with their reform work.  He has written articles on both school and district reform and in addition has presented at numerous conferences across the country.
